The compaction technology Fertil uses in its factory follows contemporary trends in the production of fertilisers. It is a completely dry process during which no waste water is discharged and no harmful gases are released into the atmosphere, and this ensures compliance with the highest environmental standards. During production, a new granule with a homogeneous composition is obtained from mineral components, and the process itself consists of the following phases:

  • Raw material selection, preparation and dosing
  • Raw material blending
  • Compacting (agglomeration under pressure)
  • Crushing of the obtained cakes
  • Classification of the corresponding product fractions
  • Cooling of the product
  • Final processing of the product
  • Packing and dispatch of the product


The production process starts with the selection of raw materials for a certain formulation and determination of the compatibility of the raw materials. After dosing, the raw materials are blended, and a homogenous mixture that is transported to the roller press is obtained. A product in the form of 2-cm thick cakes is obtained from the compactor; this is then crushed in the crusher and classified using a double-deck screen in order to obtain the desired fraction (1-5 mm). After the double-deck screening, granules smaller than 1 mm are returned for additional compacting whereas those larger than 5 mm are sent for further crushing. The final product (a fraction of 1-5 mm) is sifted again now using a single-deck screen, treated with an anticaking agent, and then cooled to the ambient temperature, and finally stored. After ageing, the fertiliser is packed on an automatic line into packaging, in line with market requirements.
